Fighting Food Insecurity: Partnering with Isaiah House for Health Equity

The Health Disparities Initiative of Take Lead demonstrated an exceptional commitment to addressing the critical issue of food insecurity through our impactful community service solution. The initiative chose to support Isaiah House, an organization situated in East Orange, NJ that provides essential resources to those in need, primarily focusing on offering food assistance to vulnerable people facing food insecurity.

Through our double good popcorn fundraiser, the Health Disparities initiative raised an impressive $1,262, with $630 of the proceeds going towards Isaiah House.

The initiative's decision to support Isaiah House reflects our deep understanding of the pressing health and social issues at hand. By raising funds and directly contributing to Isaiah House's efforts, the Health Disparities initiative has exemplified the core values of Take Lead - empathy, leadership, and a commitment to fostering positive change within our community.

Since its establishment in 1988, Isaiah House has demonstrated its commitment to serving vulnerable populations, including homeless and at-risk families, people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHAs), runaway teens experiencing homelessness, and mothers with newborns. In addition to providing shelter and support, Isaiah House plays a crucial role in offering essential resources such as a food pantry, school supplies, household items, and other necessities, ensuring that those in need receive the assistance needed to rebuild their lives.
